The best German Breeding has to offer ...

... that´s in short what the BBAG Yearling Sales has to offer for its clients. 305 Lots, just about every leading German stud-farms, the best dam-lines, leading sires – it´s all in the catalogue for the Sale which takes place on the 3rd and 4th of September. The success of German-bred horses especially in this year and moreover abroad will have made sure that the racing-scene will assemble in Iffezheim on the first weekend in September. The Yearling-Sales are a “Must” now, and no leading Agent, Trainer or Breeder wants to miss it.

Even a quick glance through the catalogue shows: You are in for a treat. In alphabetical order it is Gestüt Ammerland that leads the list of vendors. The Breeders of this year´s French Derby Hero Lope de Vega consign eight horses, among them a Rock of Gibraltar- colt out of a sister to Hurricane Run, as well as sons and daughters of Boreal, Cockney Rebel, Dashing Blade, Observatory, Rail Link and Samum.  Gestüt Auenquelle is next in order and they send 7 yearlings to Iffezheim. Their lot of course concentrates on offspring of their recently deceased multiple Champion Sire Big Shuffle, with special focus on a colt from the direct female line of Irish Derby winner Fame and Glory. Matthias Barth offers a Sholokhov-brother to this year´s Group II-winner Vanjura, Peter-Alexander Battel a Big Shuffle –sister to group winners Pepperstorm, Peppercorn and Peppershot.

Gestüt Brümmerhof is once again one of the leading consignors with 10 Lots. Four colts are by First season sires, they are by Authorized, Dylan Thomas, Manduro and Toylsome, which automatically puts them in the focus. On top there are sons and daughters of proven sires such as Anabaa, Green  Desert, Lando, Sharmardal and Shirocco. The only offer by Gestüt Burg Eberstein is a Touch My Soul-sister by up- and-coming sire Librettist, and she is eligible for Owners Premiums in France. Apart from two yearlings by Hernando and Kyllachy Gestüt DIRECTA is banking on the first crop of “Goldene Peitsche” winner Electric Beat who will have 4 yearlings in the ring. The highlight of Gestüt Elstetal´s consignment could be a full brother to König Turf and König Shuffle (all by Big Shuffle) with the telling name “Kaiser” (Emperor).

Gestüt Etzean will take 11 Yearlings from the Odenwald to Iffezheim.  After the first runners by Lord of England got off to such a flyer for their sire his offspring will no doubt be scrutinized closely. Three colts by this home-based sire are on offer, as are sons and daughters by the prolific Dashing Blade and Sholokhov as well as a Montjeu-sister to German Oaks winner Mystic Lips. Doyen twice, High Chaparral and Lord of England one each is the offer from Gestüt Eulenberger Hof. Areion heads the German Sires Table at the moment, so special interest will be on all 5 yearlings by him offered by Gestüt Evershorst.

With 23 yearlings the biggest consignor by far is the Stiftung Gestüt Fährhof (the Fährhof Stud Foundation). Their pedigrees show a variety of great names and the best female lines German Breeding has to offer, and top-class European Sires such as Dansili, Lawman, Manduro, Motivator, Nayef or Tiger Hill are represented, as are top-class domestic sires. It´s hard to pick a particular favorite but a Dansili-son out of the Group winner Casanga  or the Nayef-daughter out of the Listed winner Snow Gretel do catch the eye. Gestüt Görlsdorf has a dozen yearlings on offer. Their breeding is a mix from proven German lines and successful foreign families, and among the sires we find prominent names such as the recently retired Cadeaux Genereux, Manduro, Marju, Pivotal or Singsiel. A Pivotal-filly out of the mare Baltic Gift is her sires only progeny at Iffezheim. A colt from one of the last crops of evergreen sire Platini could be the most interesting offer by Gestüt Harzburg. Dr. Otto Herminghaus is offering a Lomitas-sister to Listed winner Usbeke. A new name among German Studfarms Gestüt Hofgut Heyman, and their 11-yearling consignment is high in quality and quantity, among them a filly out of Polyquest and the only horse by Cape Cross on offer at this sale. A Monsun-filly from the family of Azamour is the outstanding offer of Gestüt Mappen. Gestüt Isarland is offering a Desert Prince-halfsister to Mulan who won the Auction-Race at Hamburg, both stem from the immediate family of the mighty Monsun.

Gestüt Karlshof has three particular highlights this year. These are a fullsister to German Derby winner Kamsin (Samum), who did win a further two Group I races, as well as a Manduro (Monsun)-brother to the cracks Samum, Schiaparelli and Salve Regina who are all by Monsun himself. The third crack could be a Oratorio-brother to Baila Me, who won the Group I Preis von Europa. These are certainly outstanding offers at this sale. In amongst the 4 lots offered by Stall Lintec is a fullbrother by Big Shuffle to the multiple Listed winner Lips Arrow which seems to be the most interesting. The only lot consigned by Günter Merkel is a Sholokhov-brother to three Black-Type fillies, a fullsister to Rubiana  . Anke and Rainer Monscheuer offer two fillies by Lomitas from the immediate family of the promising Godot. Out of a halfsister to Derby winner Adlerflug and by the Arc winner Rail Link is a colt consigned by Gestüt Ohlerweiherhof.

Over the years Gestüt Park Wiedingen consigned a host of very good horses at Iffezheim. This time they send five yearlings, led by a fullbrother to ill-fated Classic Winner Precious Boy (Big Shuffle) who in his short career did score in three Group-races. A seven-strong Lot has been sent across the border by the French stud Haras Du Petit Tellier, resting in main on offspring by the Isarland-based Sire Desert Prince. Rupert Plersch is also offering a colt by him, this one out of a Brazilian Group I- winner.

Agent Roland Rauscher is responsible for no less than 23 horses, for various owners.  Among those (in Lot-order) a Shirocco-Sister to Group winner Zarewitsch, a Sholokhov-brother to Il Divo, a Big Shuffle-sister to Lagalp, a full brother to Sire Martillo (Anabaa), a Smarty Jones brother to Group II winner Union Avenue, a son of Monsun out of the Champion 2-year-old Night Lagoon and a Dalakhani-filly from the family of Russian Rhythm are of particular interest.

Gestüt Römerhof does come up with a Shirocco-brother to the Classic winner Windhuk, and a colt from Authorized´s  first crop out of a sister to Hurricane Run will be of particular interest. Gestüt Röttgen is relying mainly on their own sires, the first crop of the classy Soldier Hollow is represented by two offspring, among those the first foal, a filly, out of the Listed winner Desibina, accompanied by a Kallisto-brother to Group-winner Egerton.

Eckhard Sauren is represented by a Big Shuffle-filly out of his Group winner Nouvelle Noblesse, making her a sister to Nobel Alpha. The same family is represented by a Sholokhov-filly offered by Gestüt Am Schloßgarten, this one a sister to Group-winner Norderney.

Six yearlings are offered by Count and Countess Stauffenberg, descendents of Elnadim, Lomitas, Shirocco, Three Valleys, Verglas and Zamindar. The latter is the sire of a halfbrother to Group I winner Lady Marian. The Swiss Gestüt Söhrenhof is consigning four yearlings for the first time in Iffezheim, three of which are by their freshman sire Blue Canari. As with Gestüt DIRECTA, Gestüt Trona does rely mainly on Eletric Beat. A Soldier Hollow-sister to Group winner Caro Jina does catch the eye among the three-head lot of Gestüt Weiherwiesen.

The usual well-related lot does come from Gestüt Wittekindshof to the BBAG, and it is worth noting that a couple of outstanding fillies are among the draft this year, such as a Dylan Thomas – sister to Classic winner Rosenreihe or a Lomitas-daughter out of the multiple Group-winner Saldenschwinge. Among the colts are a Galileo-son of the mighty Elle Danzig, a Shamardal-son out of North Queen and a Rock of Gibraltar-son out of Salonrolle. A very attractive consignment. The favorite among the triple lot offered by Gestüt Zoppenbroich could be a Sholokhov-brother to top-three-year old Lindentree.
